Another busy Saturday-SIT (School for International Training) graduation day.

Question: Where do you go to celebrate your college graduation? Why, the Brattleboro Farmers Market, of course! We have enjoyed the company of SIT students at Market for years-all those exotic faces-all the international languages. I have SIT students come to my booth and order coffee and donuts to practice their English. The diversity of our market visitors and vendors just blows me away.

Saturday Market, May 23, 2009

Yow!! I've never seen that many people at Market. We had a great downhome, bluegrass band. Many vendors sold out of product. I heard several market goers talk about the wonderful weather conditions. I think we must be getting many more out-of-staters at Market, many unfamiliar and friendly faces.

It has been so busy at Market that I can't wander around to snap pictures. I just take shots of nearby vendors and people walking by. Any pix you see here of vendor booths I had to shoot after Market hours. Rock on. Rara Avis

Third Saturday and all is well. I met people from Quebec who come down to the Market every year-they love the area. There were some international visitors speaking  a language I had never before heard.

Groups of little kids ran around the Market. One group of three girls stopped every couple of laps to get teacakes. 

The music was great. They were friends of Marty Cain, the musical phenom from last season. These guys played and sang familiar songs, in an interesting, innovative way. 

Saturday 5/9/09

Once again defying the weatherman-Market was cool, sunny and breezy. We had a band this week, and the Rock & Roll kid came back-this time with a cool new guitar. I thought I heard him strumming the Richie Havens version of "Here Comes The Sun". 

Market goers are still welcoming me back-"My kids have waited all winter for your donuts."

I can't imagine being anywhere else in the world. See you next week. RS

May 2-Opening Day

THE! BEST! OPENING! DAY! EVER!

Swarms of Market visitors, joining Market vendors in welcoming the return of the Brattleboro Farmers Market- Exclamations of "I thought the winter would never end." and "You're back" -Great weather, sunny, breezy, cool-New vendors-Shiny new booths-Maypole dancers of all ages- Familiar kids' faces, one year older. 

Spring does not really start til the first day of Market.
