Saturday Market 7.1.19

So this is my 27th year at Market, in the same spot. And today marks the 45th year of operation of this market. Market is the absolute center of this Brattleboro community during these 6 months of operation. Forget Disney, THIS is the Happiest Place on Earth.
Enjoy these happy people at Market:

Saturday Market 6.22.19

Weather continues to be perfect Vermont Farmers Market weather. Sunny, breezy, cool. It's always like this, right?
Of course, now that Summer is officially here I'm already thinking about the cold to come. Better get in some firewood soon. Oh well, if the seasons didn't change it wouldn't be Vermont. Still love it here.
Next week we will be visited by kids from SIT, the School for International Training. We're having Iraqi kids next week. They're always great. Can't wait.

My pal Cindy back for another Market year.

Saturday Market 6/8/19

Well, Strolling of the Heifers Day is here in Brattleboro today, which means downtown will get flooded with visitors, and the Market will suffer a loss of business. Happens every year. I look at it as a chance to roam around Market snapping pics. On a normal Market day I can't really get away from my booth, so it's fine.
Weather great again. June is usually the nicest Vermont weather of the year, at least for those of us who don't ski.
The crowd was smaller but lively, with a good Celtic band and kiddies dancing. Here's some pics, RaRa.

Saturday Market 5/25/19

Whenever visitors from afar come to Vermont, and the weather is its usual rainy and cold all summer, we tell them "It's not usually like this." The perennial excuse works rather well, so that people always come back hoping for good weather, and we get to say to them once again "It's not usually like this."

Well, this year we had a perfect weather day for Memorial Day, so that visitors got what they fully expected from their Vermont trip; sunny, mild but not hot, and breezy. So when Market goers remarked on the nice day, I replied, "Yeah, it's always like this." We're all grifters, n'est pas?
Here's some pics:

Kurt with his patented expression of "Yeah I sold out already. Now I'm just hangin."

Lady, there's a giant parrot on your shoulder.

Wells Cunningham back for another year of Market. Dude is 95, WW2 veteran with many stories to tell.

Earring of the week. That looks like a happy couple.

Varee and daughter Natasha. Used to bring Natasha to Market in a stroller, now the kid runs the booth.

Floppy Hat of the Week.

Market is the perfect place for moms to bring their tiny tots.

The Amidons perform their unique tunes.

Saturday Market 5/18/19

Well, the sun finally decided to grace us on the third day of Market. We had a good response from Market goers who showed up in large numbers with many kids in tow. A great band played traditional Irish tunes. Happy Birthday to Meghan, Market Manager. Thanks to Chloe Everest for help in getting the pics.

First Imelda pic of the season. Still lovely.

I like the way the band, Gowan Brae sits around to play.

Kids still love the sand box

Dude reminds me of Mr. Natch from R. Crumb comics, the way he walks.

Family waiting for Johanna's crepes

Helen Mirren takes time off from the shooting of RED 3 to grab a cup of coffee.

Girls on the Run contingent

Meghan doesn't like having her picture snapped. "This is your last warning." Happy Birthday Meghan.

Kids splashing in Whetstone Creek. This is the same body of water that has occasionally turned into a raging torrent, flooding the Market site.

Finally flowers have the confidence to bloom. Maybe the warm weather will continue.

Gowan Brae plays old Irish tunes. Check out the dancing dude.
