Saturday Market August 27, 2011

Well, we had a great day at Market, ahead of the category 72 hurricane. Everyone had a good time, then left abruptly so as to get home and board up their windows against the high winds….which didn’t come….although we did get the most flooding ever…which the weather experts didn’t predict. Oh, well, we can count it as a break, like a work break, a Mother Nature enforced work break. Think I’ll just loaf, unless it goes on for too long, in which case I’ll have to find honest workL.

So I have some regular Market pix, followed by some post-storm pix. Enjoy. Rara Avis

Early apples

Immature pickles

Now for the bad news

That's a wave of silt swelling up in front of former booths.

Looks more like earthquake damage

This one is my favorite. That's Miller's booth still standing after catching and holding what looks like 3 or 4 other booths located upstream.

The sink, however, came through without a scratch.

I'm reliably told that this uncovered post dates from the days of the old mink farm.

Gotcha, Ira!!
