Saturday June 5, 2010

There are 2 general categories of Market days-Good days, and Better days. Good days mean that our loyal, regular local Market goers are in attendance. Better days mean an increased number of visitors from away join the regulars for a booming Market.

I think I should add a third category-actually just 1 Saturday-and that is “Strolling of the Heifers” day, which falls on the first Saturday in June. On that particular day everyone goes downtown to watch the cows walk up Main St. and the Market suffers poor attendance, kind of like a bad rain day. This condition has gotten worse every year since the “Strolling” began. I don’t know what could be done to increase business at the Market. (Maybe “Strolling could happen on Sunday?) Any ideas are welcome.

Anyway, even though I did not attend Market this week (No real point. About a third of vendors were no-shows), I did come down to snap some pix. See you next week (Cows will be gone-Yay!!!)

Rara Avis.
